The construction work at Devipur (Deoghar) situated AIIMS is in full swing as the hospital administration is determined to start the OPD by January end, informed an official at the construction site. The work at the Ayush Block Building in which the OPD will operate is 90% complete, and the OPD will start functioning as soon as the building will be handed over, informed S.K. Malhotra, Deoghar Civil Surgeon.
The 40 room building is in its post-construction stage. Twenty different specialist doctors will be using one room each as their consulting room while the remaining 20 will serve other miscellaneous purposes as per need.
Ashwini Chaubey (Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare) during his last visit to Deoghar in October, had written a letter to AIIMS Director requesting to start the OPD at the Devipur situated Hospital. The State Government has also given all the clearance regarding the functioning of the OPD.
“The opening of OPD at AIIMS Deoghar will benefit not just the people of the holy land of Baba Baidyanath but also of the nearby regions” expressed the Godda MP Dr. Nishikant Dubey in one of his social media posts.
The institute has already begun its classes for its first batch of 50 MBBS students in September 2019. The classes are temporarily ongoing at the Panchayat Training Institute (PTI), Deoghar, as the campus is expected to be finished in February 2022 at its original site. The foundation stone of the 237-acre project was laid by PM Narendra Modi in May 2018 and once completed, it’ll be the largest AIIMS centre in the country.
