AirAsia agrees to operate from Deoghar Airport; will soon send a team for the final inspection

AirAsia India has agreed to start operations from the upcoming international airport at Baidyanathdham. This information came after the recent test calibration test at the Deoghar Airport. The Airport Authority of India (AAI) had successfully conducted four take-offs and landings of a 16-seater plane in the second week of August.

Following the Calibration Test, multiple airlines have shown interest to commence their services from the land of Shiva. Before AirAsia, IndiGo and SpiceJet had already nodded to operate from Deoghar. In the beginning phase, all these three airlines will connect the traditional capital of Jharkhand to Bangalore, Delhi, Kolkata and Ranchi.

AAI has instructed IndiGo and AirAsia to proceed with the inspection of Deoghar Airport. The airlines will now get in touch with Sh. Manoj Gangal, Regional Executive Director of the Eastern Regional Headquarters of AAI, to finish all the necessary technical inspections and formalities. Once satisfied, the airlines will make a final and formal agreement to start its flight operations from the Deoghar Airport.

The construction at Deoghar Airport is in full swing and is in its final stage of completion. The airport named after the late Prime Minister, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, has been informally scheduled for inauguration on 17th September. Meanwhile, locals have been strongly asking to rename the international airport as Baba Baidyanath Airport. Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has also written a letter to Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia last month, requesting the same.
