Jharkhand State Hindu Religious Trust Board chairman, Jaishankar Pathak, has issued an order to probe 16 dharmashalas (Hindu pilgrim hostels) operating under the board by forming an investigation committee, which includes Ajay Narayan Mishra, Vinod Kumar, and Shantanu Mishra.
The order issued by the board states that the managers and administrators of the dharmashalas in Deoghar are not following the rules and are operating the institutions by ignoring the provisions.

As per the submitted complaint, there used to be 70-71 dharmashalas in Deoghar, but many of them have sold their land, and other structures have been built on them.
The board has released a list of 16 Dharmashalas in Deoghar that will be under investigation, including Balanand Brahmachari Ashram in Karnibad, Charushila Trust, Bageswari Dharmashala, Kachhi Dharmashala in Castairs Town, Dudhwa Dharmashala on Station Road, Baiju Mandir near Tower Chowk, Ranchod Das Trust, Shri Shankar Dharmashala and Gajadhar Dharmashala on Shivganga Road, Kesharwani Ashram on Shyamganj Road, Rajoli Sangat Dharmashala, Harisharanam Kutir in Jhoushagari, Kaikeyi Dharmashala in Bilasi Town, Naya Dharmashala on Sardar Panda Lane, Kali Temple in Harilajori and Dalmia Dharmashala in Madhupur.
