Jharkhand Governor C.P. Radhakrishnan inaugurated the nursing hostel in the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Deoghar campus on Saturday, while attending the institute’s grand fourth annual function celebration as its Chief Guest.
Congratulating the AIIMS Deoghar management for its achievements in the past four years, and praising the institute for its contribution to the healthcare sector, the Jharkhand Governor said that AIIMS Deoghar is a boon for the backward Santhal Pargana region.
“It took a long time to build AIIMS Deoghar, but it is no less than a boon for backward areas like Santhal Pargana. We are very happy that a backward place like Santhal Pargana is continuously developing and people are being provided with health facilities from AIIMS Deoghar,” he mentioned in his address as the chief guest.

“We will be happiest on the day when people will ask us for treatment recommendations and we will be able to advise them to go to AIIMS Deoghar instead of Delhi AIIMS,” said Dhanbad MP, Pashupati Nath Singh, who attended the anniversary celebration as a special guest.
While conversing with the media, AIIMS Director Dr. Sourabh Varshney ensured, “I assure you that we will fulfil the dream of the honourable MP. Our team will make every effort that no one needs to go outside of Jharkhand if they need any medical service. I am not a fortune teller, but it is my job to try, I assure you that soon, within a year, we will bring AIIMS Deoghar to such a position that no patient will need to go outside for any treatment.“
The AIIMS director further told that in the coming days, another building will be ready, where all kinds of facilities will be available and every patient will be treated in AIIMS Deoghar, and no patient will have to go anywhere else.
“AIIMS Deoghar started on 16th September 2019. Four years have passed, and it is achieving new heights every day. During the inauguration year, our first batch of MBBS students took admission, and over time, four years have passed including two years of COVID, and despite all this, with the cooperation of everyone, whether it is, the central government, state government, district administration, honourable MP, honourable MLA, with the cooperation of all, the institute has progressed and today we are celebrating the fourth anniversary. In the due course, five batches of our MBBS have been admitted, three batches of our B.Sc have been admitted, our PG course, MD/MS, has also commenced, and the institute has been providing OPD facilities for the past two years, which will be expanded next month, and as soon as we shift to the main building, the number which is currently 900 to 1000 will increase to three to four thousand,” informed Dr. Varshney.

According to the information, Governor C.P. Radhakrishnan was given a guard of honour under the tricolour in the academic building premises as he reached AIIMS Deoghar at his scheduled time, at 3 p.m., after which he perused the large map of AIIMS hospital on the ground floor of the academic building. Reportedly, a short meeting and lunch were arranged for the Governor on the fourth floor of the academic block, following that, C.P. Radhakrishnan inaugurated the nursing hostel in the AIIMS hospital campus by cutting the ribbon and unveiling the plaque.

As per the scheduled event, the Jharkhand governor commenced the annual program by lighting the lamp along with the Dhanbad MP in a temporary grand pandal on the parking lot inside the AIIMS hospital, where the honorary guests were given shawl, bouquet and memento of Baba Baidyanath by the AIIMS management.
On the occasion, Deoghar AIIMS President Dr. N K Arora, Director Dr. Sourabh Varshney, Santhal Pargana Commissioner Lalchand Dadel, DIG Sudarshan Mandal, Deputy Commissioner Vishal Sagar, Superintendent of Police Ajit Peter Dungdung, Deputy Development Commissioner Dr. Tarachand, Sub-Divisional Officer Dipankar Choudhary along with Block Development Officer Abhay Kumar and Dr. Saket Bihari were present along with a large number of officers, AIIMS staff and students.
After staying in Deoghar amid tight security arrangements in the AIIMS campus for about three hours, Governor C.P. Radhakrishnan reportedly left for Petarwar (Bokaro) by road in the evening.

According to the information provided by the management, AIIMS Deoghar has been providing education to about 600 MBBS and 150 nursing students in its four years of existence. It is said that AIIMS is providing services to patients with limited surgery arrangements along with an outpatient department and an internal medicine department.
“AIIMS Deoghar has been made a centre of excellence for research and research in the field of tribal health by the Government of India. AIIMS Deoghar is emerging as an important research institute in eastern India. The possibility of the availability of excellent health services in Deoghar very soon has been expressed,” informed the premier medical institute’s management.
